8 Things to Do Labor Day around Lake Guntersville

Summer is ending at Alabama’s Great Natural Attraction, unfortunately. However, Labor Day Weekend offers you one last chance to send summer off with a big bang. We got lots to do around Lake Guntersville that weekend, but here are just 8 things to do to help motivate your Labor Day plans.

Head to SugarFest

The SugarFest is the sweetest festival right here in Marshall County. The all-day festival is September 2 and lasts from 7:30 a.m. until 8:15 p.m. Enjoy craft vendors and yummy festival treats. Kids can hang out at the Sugar High Kids Zone, while parents may enjoy the live music. Carnival rides will also be available for family fun. The night ends with fireworks at the end of the last song. Learn all the details about SugarFest here.

Jam Out at Papa Dubi’s

Get your dancing shoes on for September 1 to see the The Stolen Faces live at Papa Dubi’s. This Nashville band is a tribute to the Grateful Dead. This is a FREE show for everyone, and the fun kicks off at 6 p.m. Enjoy good food while you’re there too. Click here for more info.

Zipline through the Trees

Want a little thrill for your weekend? We highly recommend trying out Screaming Eagle Ziplines. There are two levels to choose from that will have you soaring like bald eagles. You will see stunning lake views and probably some wildlife too. Click here to learn more or book a tour.

Rent a Boat

What’s Labor Day weekend without getting on the lake? Rent a boat at Town Creek Fishing Center or Islands Boat Rental. Both offer great rentals of pontoons, fishing boats and kayaks. They also both offer different time options if you are or are not open for a full day boating adventure.

Float in the Lazy River at SMP

If you are not up for spending time in the lake swimming, you should definitely head to Sand Mountain Park’s Outdoor Water Park. It has two massive slides and a lazy river to float down. Kids will also enjoy the splash pad with tons of features. Labor Day weekend is the last time to enjoy the outdoor water park until next year, too. Learn more here.

Check out Boaz’s Newest Mural

Boaz is the spot for murals in Marshall County. There are several located in their downtown that are all photo-op worthy. However, they have a new mural that was completed this summer. This was dedicated to the Musical Heritage of Boaz and highlights those who made an impact in the musical world. Find the mural in Downtown Boaz.

Kayak Around Lake Guntersville State Park

If you are looking for something a little different, we highly recommend bringing your kayak (or canoe) out to Lake Guntersville State Park. Paddle along the banks of the river and see some beautiful wildlife and nature. If you don’t have your own, rent one at Town Creek Fishing Center.

Sip a Cocktail at Levi’s

If you haven’t checked out the new City Harbor located on the water, here is the perfect chance to do so. Levi’s on the Lake offers live music every weekend and stunning views of a one-of-a-kind Lake Guntersville sunset. Grab your favorite cocktail at the bar and enjoy a nice evening on the water.
