Lake Guntersville State Park offers miles upon miles of hiking trails, so make sure to bring your hiking boots to venture out. During your hike, you are bound to see some amazing wildlife that call the state park home. Deer are the most popular of the animals roaming around, and they often come very close to guests. But don’t worry! They are very calm, but please do not feed them.

Take a horseback ride with Alabama Horseback Adventures. With several options available, you will be welcomed with open arms from the great crew at AHA. During your ride, you will be educated about the park and the different trees species inhabiting the park. You can even make it to a beautiful bluff view to take pictures of the beautiful lake. Zipline through the trees with the Screaming Eagle Adventures! With two level options available, you can choose what will be most comfortable for you and your family. The thrills are so much fun though. The staff will give you the best experience making you want to come back for more. And they will be glad to have you, too. With all that adventure out of the way, your family will be hungry! But no worries, because the Lake Guntersville State Park will have their annual Thanksgiving Buffet available for y’all on Thanksgiving day. Grab turkey, dressing, sweet potato pie and everything else in between. Even the Lake Guntersville locals make a trip to the lodge to eat this wonderful feast. Reservations for the Thanksgiving Dinner must be made in advance, however. You can do that by calling 256-505-6602.

Relax

Trek out onto the overlook at the Lodge at the end of your day to see on of the most beautiful sunsets you can catch. The sun sets over the calm waters making it the perfect photo-op, so keep your camera handy. There is also a seating area in front of the most stunning fireplaces you’ve ever seen. Get cozy as the night begins and take your vacation all in.
