Our small section of Alabama is booming with hundreds of things to do and knock off your bucket list while you’re here. To get you started, we created a list of just 25 things to do in 2025, but we hope you stay long enough to much more than this.
1. Go birding for bald eagles
Bald eagle nests are plentiful around the Lake Guntersville area. Eagle Awareness weekends happen in January/February yearly as well. Learn more here.
2. Hiking

3. Murals in Boaz
Downtown Boaz has an abundance of stunning murals that are photo worthy. From a stunning set of butterfly wings to historic showcase of their history.
4. Jules J. Berta Vineyards
This award winning winery in Albertville is the place to be for wine tastings, wood-fired pizza, wine slushies, good times and more. Check out their place here.
5. Arab Historic Village
Head over to Arab to their Historic Village. Step back into time where you can see an old schoolhouse, gristmill, grocery store and more. Learn more here.
6. Cathedral Caverns State Park
This stunning cave boasts some of the most magnificent formations that will leave you in awe. Tours are 90 minutes and reservations are highly encouraged! Do so here.
7. City Harbor
Lake Guntersville’s City Harbor has a wide array of restaurants and shopping all in one place. You can also take a seat and relax in their rockers.
8. Concert at Sand Mountain Amphitheater
Albertville has the best amphitheater that has been rocking with amazing concerts featuring artists like Nelly, Parker McCollum, Three Doors Down and a ton more. See their lineup here.
9. The 19th Hole
Head to Boaz to try out this amazing golf simulator. They even serve up delicious food and drinks making this a one stop shop for fun. Rent a bay today!
10. Enjoy a Cold One
Our area has three breweries that offer the best craft beer selection. Seidr Brewing in Arab is a step back in time with low lighting and relaxing vibes. Or try out Main Channel at their Guntersville or Albertville locations. Both having the same beer but each having a different vibe.
11. Rent a Boat
Why not get out on the water at some point? The are has several places to rent a boat from including Town Creek Fishing Center, and Islands Boat Rental.

Did you know Albertville is the Fire Hydrant Capital of the world? Well, now you do. Swing by downtown Albertville to see the 3 millionth fire hydrant made by Mueller.

The perfect souvenir of a trip to this area is your own candle. In downtown Arab, you can make your own with special scents, different shapes and more.
15. Experience HydroFest

Want to see Lake Guntersville State Park? There is no better way than with Screaming Eagle Ziplines! From high up to hiking through, this is something everyone can do.
17. Check out a Festival
Our area is blessed with some fabulous festivals year round. The Boaz Harvest Festival is usually the first weekend of October. SugarFest in Arab is the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Albertville’s Made on the Mountain Fest is the first weekend in May. And Guntersville’s Art on the Lake takes place in late April. See our event calendar for all events here.
18. Cast a Line
Grab a fishing pole and cast a line on one of the shorelines to see if you can reel in one of the famous big bass that we are known for.
19. Learn the History
Marshall County has several museums that offer the best look at the area from the past. Each of them are free and can be hit up in one day. Learn more here.

22. Bluff Views at Buck’s Pocket State Park
Check out a sunset at Buck’s Pocket State Park. The bluff views at Jim Lynn Overlook showcase the stunning park. Go in any season, but Fall offers some great fall foliage.
23. Shop the Downtowns
The four downtowns of Marshall County have wonderful shopping opportunities. Albertville, Arab, Boaz and Guntersville have unique boutiques if you’re looking for special gifts or even something for yourself.
24. Water Park Fun
Why not cool down in the summer at Sand Mountain Park’s Outdoor Water Park? The fun is endless at the park with giant waterslides, lazy river and splash pad.
25. Hambrick Bat Cave
From April to October, you can head out at Sunset to the Hambrick Bat Cave to watch thousands of gray bats head out for food for the night. It is the most unique thing to see in our area.
